  • Artist’s Statement

My artwork explores themes and ideas about ageing of used surfaces and the contrast with newer or manufactured artefacts. More recently this has evolved to into what I call Sentinels. These are conspicuous objects manufactured or natural found in our built environment and natural landscape.

  • Biography

I trained in Visual Communication and Fine Arts at the Queensland College of Art followed by a career as a teacher in Visual Arts and Design. As teacher and practitioner I engaged in a broad range of media including traditional and digital processes to develop art, design and media. More recently I have focused my time on my studio practice reviving themes and developing new ideas.

  • Influences

My formative years coincided with the arrival of Photorealism and that way of seeing. Conversely the freedom and speed of minimalist composition and expressionist style were and still are very attractive. Those traits are evident in my work in addition to the irresistible temptation of the banal and everyday.
