  • Artist’s Statement

Bold colours of the desert sky meeting the expansive horizon of a salt lake are slashed by a blue streak of light. I have attempted to catch the excitement and dynamism of Donald Campbell on Lake Eyre  (Kati_Thanda) when he broke the Land Speed Record for a wheel driven car on 17th July 1964. Almost 50 years to the day.

  • Biography

An artist who sees art in nature, the built environment and in machinery and how these can interplay with each other. A lover of land-speed racing who thrives on time in salt lakes and in the desert.
Lewis mostly paints in acrylics to enjoy the speed of application which suits his favourite subjects, Swathes of colour, delicate blending and the contrasts in colour and light and shade in the bright desert sun.
Lewis has only been painting for two years but has already won prizes in regional art shows.
He lives in Brisbane and loves quality time with his whippet.

  • Influences

My work is influenced by landscape painters of the australian bush, although I admire the work of many automotive artists.
