Biography

John started his wood carving career at the age of 8. He achieved early success with 2 pieces in the Daily Mail Children's Art Exhibition in London.
He put his artistic pursuits on hold while pursued a career as a pilot but a move to Borneo rekindled his interest.
In Borneo he was able to take advantage of logs found on the beach, escapees from Malaysia's logging program. With these exotic timbers, John developed a simple style of sculpture where the grain and the natural beauty of the timber is emphasised.
Settling in the Sunshine Coast in 2020, he now works in native timbers from his home studio.
