  • Artist’s Statement

I make art because it is exciting, challenging and fills my soul. Painting the landscape connects me to the eternal and sublime. My recent work is inspired by the fleeting reflections of light on a waterlily pond in Thornlands, Brisbane. I paint impressionistic ,contemporary landscapes rather than literal interpretations and let the painting dictate the final work

  • Biography

I have been interested in art from a very early age. I studied art at school and when I became a primary teacher I was able to use my knowledge in the classroom. I have attended workshops and residencies and studied under notable artists such as Henry Bates, Kevin Oxley , Michael Taylor, Dr Irene Amos and Elizabeth Cummimgs. I have given workshops for Camp Creative in Grafton.I have won awards in art competitions and been part of an art stable in Brisbane with Charles Ginn Gallery at the Terrace,
To further my interest in art, I began a bachelor of Visual Arts degree at the University of Southern Queensland Toowoomba in 2023

  • Influences

Like most students I began with traditional landscapes inspired by Streeton, Drysdale and Lloyd Rees. I was inspired by the superb draftsmanship of Brett Whitely and Frank Hodgkinson. More recently I have discovered Disrupted Realism as a new way of expression.
