  • Artist’s Statement

    Gill Cameron’s artwork is a reflection of her coastal surroundings and the characters that inhabit her community. Working with watercolours and liquid acrylics, she embraces the fluid and unpredictable qualities of these mediums, layering washes and pushing artistic boundaries to add depth and life to her pieces. Her recent collections focus on ocean pools and harbour beaches, capturing the colour, movement, and energy of the sea and sky, juxtaposed against the architecture and structure of the foreshore.

  • Biography

    Based in Bondi, Gill Cameron is a mural artist, illustrator, and textile designer known for creating original artworks, limited edition prints, and large-scale murals. Her murals include two on the iconic Bondi Beach Sea Wall and a permanent piece in Perry Lane, Paddington. In 2022, she won the Aspire Gallery 'Foot Square' competition and was a finalist in both the ‘Inside this Box’ exhibition at Cornerstore Gallery and the WWAS 9x5 Landscape Prize in 2021.

    Gill joins Downlands under the collection of Aspire Gallery (Brisbane, Qld).

  • Influences

    Gill’s artistic inspiration is drawn from her deep connection to the ocean and harbour environments that surround her in Bondi. The movement and energy of the sea, combined with the structural beauty of coastal architecture, are central themes in her work, allowing viewers to experience the dynamic interplay between nature and man-made environments.
