Artist’s Statement
Being creative is a way of life for me and I love how it connects me to everything and everyone around me. It allows me to view the world around me in a kaleidoscope of colours and shapes, paying attention to details I may have otherwise overlooked.
Biography
My name is Darls Lister and I have lived on the Darling Downs for most of my life. I've always had a creative bone but family came first for a long time and now that the babies have all flown the nest, I have more time to pursue my artistic passions.
My works are an eclectic mix of mediums and genres, exploring a variety of subjects and styles. One of my favourite things to do is to reveal colourful undertones and textures of a painting using a variety of tools and techniques. I mostly use acrylic paints as my base colour/s with a layer of oil paint over top that I can manipulate beautifully due to it's slow drying nature.Influences
I'm influenced by artists Florence Lee, Tania Wursig, Teresa Mundt and Elizabeth Lennie to name a few. But artists aside, I'm mostly influenced by the beauty of the world around me.
